Job Opportunity: Clerk of Works

Are you passionate about ensuring construction projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety? We're seeking a dedicated Clerk of Works to join our team and oversee the Council's contractors engaged in various construction projects. This role offers a unique blend of office and home-based work, providing you with flexibility and autonomy in your role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring Construction Activities: As the Clerk of Works, you'll be responsible for monitoring the activities of our contractors on construction sites. This includes ensuring compliance with specifications, regulations, and quality standards.

  • Maintaining Accurate Records: You'll maintain detailed records of on-site activities, documenting progress, issues encountered, and any deviations from the project plan. Accurate record-keeping is essential for tracking project performance and ensuring accountability.

  • Integrated Project Management: Working as part of our commercial design and project management team, you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery. Your insights and expertise will be integral to the success of our construction projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Technical Expertise: A background in construction or engineering is essential for this role. Ideally, you'll have a relevant qualification such as a degree or diploma in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.

  • Industry Experience: Previous experience working as a Clerk of Works or in a similar role within the construction industry is highly desirable. You should have a solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and building codes.

  • Attention to Detail: The ability to meticulously observe and document construction activities is crucial for success in this role. You'll need to identify potential issues or deviations from project plans and address them promptly.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are essential for liaising with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders. You should be able to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
