Due to the continued acquisition of quality accounts, this premier independent insurance broker is seeking to bolster its service offering with the appointment of an experienced Claims Handler / Executive to the team.

This is a varied role that differs from many competing claims positions and, as such, would suit established Claims Executives, as well as desk-based Claims Handlers seeking to move into a more senior, and higher profile, client-facing role. Your duties will include:

  • Managing all claims, regardless of size, arising within your own allocation of clients - as you have enhanced responsibilities as a senior member of the business, this will be a smaller portfolio than other colleagues.
  • In addition, you will act as a Claims Executive on the larger, more complex or contentious claims arising with all of the brokerage’s clients.
  • Visiting clients in the event of a loss, to investigate the surrounding circumstances and build a robust claim to that brings about a swift, favourable conclusion.
  • Negotiating with insurers to obtain the best possible settlement terms under the terms of the policy.
  • Working with Account Executives and broking staff to help obtain favourable renewal terms.
  • Identifying claims trends and making recommendations that will mitigate the chances and severity of future losses.
  • Whilst not a targeted sales role, you may be asked to join Account Executives when tendering for new business, to act as an advocate of the claims function and talk through the service proposition.
  • Manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders including insurers, Loss Adjusters / Assessors, 3rd party legal representatives etc.

We welcome applications from candidates from broking, adjusting and insurance company environments who can successfully demonstrate the following traits and experiences:

  • Knowledge of a number of commercial covers, such as property, liability, motor or financial lines.
  • An ability to get on with people from all walks of life and deal with claims arising in all industry sectors, both blue and white collar.
  • Being a naturally curious problem-solver, who can make compelling arguments to ensure coverage.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to write detailed reports.
  • Be willing to contribute to projects and help shape the future direction of this thriving brokerage.

This really is a role where you 'make what you want of the opportunity’, and the MD is happy to accommodate your career aspirations, whatever you hope to achieve! You will also benefit from a generous basic salary (we anticipate this to be in the region of £45,000 - £60,000, but it is entirely negotiable for outstanding candidates) and a generous benefits package. This forward-thinking employer offers a hybrid : remote working structure to fit around your personal commitments.
