Chemical Engineer (Process Safety)

Do you come from a Chemical/Process Engineering background and have demonstrable experience specifically in the field of Process Safety covering things such as PSSR, DSEAR and HAZOP assessments?

This company specialises in the production of biogas through the process of anaerobic digestion at a large number of sites across Scotland and have been continuously growing throughout recent years. They are now beginning to expand further into other areas of Renewable Energy as well as geographically into England, Europe and the USA supported by the establishment of a new office in London.

In this role you will be championing Process Safety across all of the companies current and future production facilities, providing leadership in the identification of hazards & risks as well as the implementation of appropriate solutions.

The ideal candidate will come from a Chemical/Process Engineering background or a Mechanical Engineering background focusing on chemical plants, will have relevant process safety qualifications such as CSP/ASP/OHST, and will have a strong knowledge of PSSR, DSEAR and COMAH regulations.

The role:
* Ensuring company-wide compliance to PSSR, COMAH and DSEAR through tests & inspections
* Chairing and organising process safety assessments for new projects and site modifications
* Carrying out design reviews on systems to identify risk, deficiencies and areas of improvement
* Liaising with HSE and SEPA during site visits and on relevant process safety matters
* Investigating incidents & accidents concerning Process Safety
* Conducting emergency response exercises and auditing responses
* Auditing sites for Process Safety Management

The person:
* Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering qualifications ideally at Degree level
* Strong knowledge of and experience working with DSEAR, COMAH, PSSR regulations
* Demonstrable background in Process Safety (audits, management systems, assessments etc)
* Full driving license and willing to travel to sites around Scotland
