Cedar are supporting a Public Sector client based in Staffordshire who are looking to hire 2 x Category Managers - 1 individual to work in their Housing & Works category and another to work in their City Management category. These positions are permanent job opportunities offering a salary ranged from £48,500 up to £51,500 plus a range of great benefits i.e. pension, flexible working etc. This role will also operate on a hybrid basis so will be a mixture of home and office based.

The successful candidate will lead the strategic category management activities in their assigned category area (either Housing & Works or City Management) and will be responsible for managing end to end Procurement projects and the negotiation of high-value contracts in order to achieve Value for Money (VfM) for the organisation. The organisation has recently commenced a transformation programme and has established a new Procurement & Commercial Services organisation to be responsible for procurement activity and payment services. Some of the key aims of this is to adopt a common strategic approach for all tendering activity, implement and improve Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management and overall to adopt the best technology to support/create a commercially confident and high-performing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for 1 direct report and where required, on a project by project basis, additional resource where required.

Candidates applying MUST HAVE:

  • MCIPS qualification or working towards MCIPS or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of PCR2015 and an awareness to the upcoming changes regarding the Procurement Bill 2023
  • Experience of working in and an understanding of Category Management - experience developing category strategies is advantageous
  • Experience delivering in a fast-paced environment
