We have a fantastic opportunity for Three Casual Catering Assistants at Bury Council. This is a part-time temporary role for the next 2 - 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Bury Council are looking for Three Casual Catering Assistants to work in primary and secondary schools across Bury, to assist the kitchen staff with preparation and cleaning of the dining areas and kitchens and also assisting the children at lunchtimes.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Assist in the basic preparation and cooking of food and beverages.
  • Setting up service counters and displays and the service of food and beverages.
  • Preparing, setting-up and clearing of dining room before and after service including where necessary the movement and storage of dining furniture.
  • Assist in the cleaning of kitchen equipment, dining furniture and allocated kitchen and dining areas as scheduled in the cleaning rota.
  • Washing, drying and storage of crockery and kitchen utensils.
  • Assist in the receipt and storage of deliveries.
  • Removal kitchen waste to designated refuse collection areas.
  • Promotion of customer service through Customer Care.
  • To be responsible for and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have previous Catering Assistant / Kitchen Assistant experience.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking service users, and other members of staff including managers.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Be able to travel to a variety of different primary and secondary schools in Bury.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts from 9.30am – 14.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Valid Food Hygiene Certificate
