Caretaker for Social Housing Properties and Communal Areas

Position: Caretaker

Duration: Temporary (6 months)

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Pay: £12.45 per hour, plus holiday pay

Are you passionate about maintaining safe and welcoming environments within social housing communities? We are currently seeking a diligent Caretaker to join the team on a temporary basis for 6 months. As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, security, and overall upkeep of the social housing properties and communal areas.

This role will be working from a base in Plymouth covering properties in Devon and Cornwall, so will involve a lot of travel

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting regular inspections of communal areas, including corridors, stairwells, gardens, and parking lots, to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, such as changing light bulbs, fixing door locks, and addressing plumbing issues.
  • Monitoring security within the housing complex, reporting any suspicious activities or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
  • Responding promptly to residents' requests and concerns, providing excellent customer service at all times.
  • Conducting routine checks of fire safety equipment and emergency exits, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinating with property management to schedule larger maintenance projects and repairs as required.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Clean Driving License with access to your own vehicle
