School Caretaker / Site Facilities Assistant & Maintenance Operative who is an energetic, physically fit, pro-active and organised handyperson with good computer skills is required for a School based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

Specific trade strengths in any area would be an advantage but not essential

Full health and safety training will be given

SALARY: £23,115 per annum + 14% Shift Allowance + Benefits

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, 52 Weeks per Year on a rotating shift pattern which can include early mornings, days, evenings and half a day on Saturday

Please note: Due to the rotating shift pattern, having your own transport is essential for this role

Working as the School Caretaker / Site Facilities Assistant & Maintenance Operative your day-to-day duties could include:

  • Unlocking/locking up the school
  • Key holding and emergency response
  • Ensuring rooms are set up for functions
  • Day-to-day maintenance
  • Ad-hoc cleaning
  • Grounds works
  • Health and safety checks (full training given)
  • Using a computerised system for logging jobs and record keeping

As the School Caretaker / Site Facilities Assistant & Maintenance specific trade strengths in any area would be an advantage but not essential. Lifting, moving and handling of furniture and deliveries also form an important part of the job.

Full health and safety training will be given.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the School Caretaker / Site Facilities Assistant & Maintenance Operative you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Must be physically fit as the job will involve moving school furniture, using ladders, handling deliveries and moving other equipment around the school
  • Must have good time-keeping skills, be organised and be able to prioritise tasks
  • Must be computer literate
  • Specific trade strengths in any area would be an advantage but not essential
  • Due to the hours/shift patterns of the job own transport is essential
