We have an opportunity available for a Careers Advisor to join our team based in Northwich. The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week, term time only (plus five days in the College holidays). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £22,886 - £25035 per annum (£26,097.00 - £28,549.00 (FTE).

About the Careers Advisor role:

The successful applicant to this newly created post will join our growing Careers advice and guidance provision.  Our experienced and supportive department comprises of the Careers Lead, and a part time Careers Assistant.

The successful candidate will contribute to developing and delivering professional careers advice to students and will work closely with the other teams in the Achievement and Support department to help provide students with the guidance and support they need to make decisions about their future.

The post is full time term time only plus 5 days in the College holidays. Hours of work will be 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.00 pm on Fridays. (37 hours per week).  Part time hours or flexible working arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates, please indicate your preferences on your application form.

Your responsibilities as our Careers Advisor will include:

  • Deputising for the Careers Manager in their absence where appropriate
  • Delivering impartial careers information, advice and guidance on a range of learning opportunities to aid student progression into further learning and/or work, including Higher Education
  • Supporting the effective planning, implementation, deliver and quality assurance of the careers programme to ensure it continuously improves and delivers the impact needed for students
  • Ensuring students can access appropriate guidance e.g. face to face, group work and online support
  • Providing information and advice to parents/carers to enable them to assist students with their career planning
  • Working with the wider Achievement and Progress team to identify students that need guidance
  • Contributing to the completion of the College’s destinations data
  • Assisting in the planning and organising of careers related activities and events
  • Establishing and developing links with Universities, employers and apprenticeship providers, promoting long-term working relationships
  • Supporting the College’s work experience programme including helping students match their needs, skills and interests with available opportunities; contacting employers and developing high quality opportunities etc.
  • Supporting the preparation of the College careers calendar
  • Implementing appropriate personal, technical and organisational measures to ensure that data processing is performed in accordance with the GDPR, and review and update those measures where necessary
  • Carrying out such other duties, as the job develops, as may be reasonably required by the Principal, in accordance with the College's flexible approach to the efficient delivery of a quality support service
  • Act in accordance with and promote the Staff Code of Conduct and Safeguarding and Prevent policies

What we’re looking for in our ideal Careers Advisor:

  • Educated to A-level standard or equivalent
  • Level 6 qualification in career guidance and development or willingness to undertake this
  • A knowledgeable and sound understanding of education systems and careers education and guidance practices
  • Ability to prioritise workload with effective decision making and organisational skills
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships with a range of stakeholders
