The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Carbon Analyst to join our Amey Consulting Sustainable Solutions team. With shared office space in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Manchester, we welcome applications from experts across these regions.

The role

As the Carbon Analyst your role will be to lead a team, producing technically sound deliverables for environmental commissions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks. Duties may include but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Producing technically sound carbon solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks
  • Analysis of carbon data to identify trends and scope decarbonisation projects.
  • The preparation and checking of deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost, and programme.
  • Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions where necessary.
  • Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function
  • Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full time but temporary role and including out of hours working
  • They will be expected to meet budget targets and deadlines set by their manager.
  • Whilst following the general direction of more senior staff to work ostensibly unsupervised where possible, seek advice and direction from more senior colleagues when necessary, including sharing responsibility for the successful completion of deliverables.
  • They will share responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables.

What you will bring to us:

·        Academic level qualification or equivalent in a relevant technical, scientific, specialised, or operational field (environment, engineering, science, or similar) Membership of relevant professional body or post-graduate degree

  • strong understanding of carbon reporting requirements (including scope 3) and strong experience providing data analysis and manipulation of large environmental datasets
  • An organised individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to clearly communicate technical/complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience understanding technical concepts, ideally in an environmental context.
  • Applicants should enjoy the development of digital platforms with a highly numerate, methodical, and analytical approach.
