£23.00-£26.50 paye per hour

£25.50.00-£29.50 paye inclusive of holiday pay per hour

£29.00 -£34.00 umbrella per hour

All the above rates are dependent on skill and experience.

Working Days and Hours: Monday-Friday, 8.00am-4.15pm

Remote working option: Not specified

Travelling for work purposes: Yes, this is a Cross site role.

Job Purpose

Working in the Capital Planning Department which forms part of Estates and Facilities: Responsible for delivery of minor and major capital schemes. Working with the estates operational team to ensure standards of installation and design are met.

Duties

  • Act as lead specialist for mechanical and electrical design within the Trust project team.
  • Requirement to liaise effectively with colleagues in Estates, Finance, Planning and Operations up to Board level with regard to the delivery of Capital Projects ensuring all standards are met.
  • Analyse highly complex technical problems logically and generate innovative solutions.
  • Provide project management services to ensure the needs and expectations of all stakeholders. This will include formulating long term strategic plans for the delivery of the Trust Capital Programme.
  • Responsible for design and construction teams.
  • Responsible for interpreting construction contract law legislative, building regulations and other requirements on estates and capital development.
  • Interpretation and action of NHS Estates system for capital development "Concode" and HM Treasury codes of practice.
  • Chair and lead both internal trust meetings and external meetings with consultants and contractors.
  • Undertake design works on in-house developed schemes and check external contractors proposals on projects.
  • Support and mentor peers and junior staff as required.
  • Delegate and prioritise workload, chair and participate in meetings and negotiate/communicate sufficiently.
  • Regular taking and transcribing formal minutes.
  • Communicates Construction information technical and financial with fellow professionals in the construction field. High-level negotiation with contractors and consultants.
  • Involvement in litigation, financial disputes and disciplinary issues.
  • Dealing with sensitive and contentious issues with heads of departments and staff.
  • Involvement in grievance and discipline procedures.
  • Involvement in appraisals and interviews.
  • Deputise for the Head of Capital Planning in periods of absence. This will involve the managing of staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Masters Degree in Engineering Building Services related subject or equivalent experience.
  • Management qualification NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent)
  • Technical knowledge of Estates Services (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical and Building), including legislation.
  • Leadership skills
  • Project management experience
  • Meet deadlines which achieve a balance between time, cost and quality
  • Computer literate - use of electronic drawing systems, AutoCAD Surveying buildings and services
  • Able to create numerical and written reports
  • Car driver/owner
