Job Title: Capital/Leasing Accountant - IFRS16 Implementation

Location: Somerset, UK

Contract Duration: 6 months, Hybrid

Pay: £435/day

We are seeking a skilled Capital/Leasing Accountant to join a local authority team on a 6-month contract basis, focusing on the implementation of IFRS16 Leases. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial compliance and transparency of a local authority in Somerset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adapt existing Lease Register to ensure compliance with IFRS16 requirements.
• Assist Chief Accountant with first-time adoption disclosure requirements for the statutory 23/24 accounts.
• Support budget realignment necessary for lease rental payments.
• Communicate effectively with finance and non-finance colleagues to facilitate smooth transition.

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience in lease accounting.
• Familiarity with IFRS16 requirements.
• Ability to work efficiently within a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.
• Previous experience in Local Government finance is preferred but not essential.
