The Buyer purchases assigned items such as specific commodities, proprietary goods, machinery, precision tools, test equipment, etc. ensuring the meeting of quality, delivery, and specification requirements at the lowest possible cost. Working with existing supply base to assess supplier performance, requesting corrective action when required, and expediting material orders to ensure timely and economical completion of customer requirements. This is a 3-6 month contract.

Main Duties

  • Supplier relationship management, conducting weekly, monthly, quarterly business reviews as required with assigned suppliers
  • Coordinate with Goods Inwards on supplier delivery queries
  • Coordinate with Quality Dept on supplier defective material return, rework or exchange
  • Supporting daily meetings with Material Planning to ensure flow of material to production and manage exceptions
  • Coordinate with finance on any billing or credit issues
  • Evaluates and monitors current supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery & cost.
  • Monitoring of supplier replenishment methods
  • Balances current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities/capacities to ensure completion of customer requirements
  • Follows and maintains system parameters
  • Drives and responds to action message reports

Skills and Knowledge

  • Previous experience as a Buyer in a similar role is essential
  • Manufacturing experience is essential
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Proven experience managing supplier relationships
  • High Attention to detail
