As a Buyer for the local plant, you will ensure the timely procurement of all materials and services, in line with company polices and procedures. You will collaborate with the Global Procurement team, whilst also working closely with the other internal departments, for example; Finance, Production etc., maintaining strong working relationships and efficient communications.
Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that through the Ariba system, purchase orders for goods or services are raised and that the correct procedures are being followed.
  • Supporting the functional tasks within the office, inclusive of system compliance, and transactional procedures.
  • Working closely with the other internal departments, for example, Finance, Production etc., maintaining strong working relationships and efficient communications.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities and leading function-related projects.
  • Ensure that documentation within the area of control is kept up to date on internal systems, in accordance with the rules set and in collaboration with key personnel to ensure the clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company are met.
  • Ensure that reports are run regularly to identify issues that need to be resolved to ensure purchasing processes are completed in a timely manner.
  • Resolve, and where appropriate, escalate any issues that may affect the purchasing process.
  • Maintain regular contact with Finance to offer support to and help resolve any identified issues from AP related missing documents.
  • Deputising for colleagues and other duties which may arise due to changing work patterns and procedures and covering colleague's absence.

Required skills & experience:

  • Experience of working in a procurement role, ideally minimum of 3 years.
  • Working knowledge of procurement systems, preferably SAP and Ariba.
  • Proven experience of problem resolution and decision making.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, inclusive of Excel and Word.
  • Able to demonstrate experience with contract management/review and tender processes through procurement systems.
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses.
  • CIPS qualified is preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience is desired.

This is a full-time and permanent role, based on site in Port Talbot, salary up to £35k plus benefits.
