Actio Recruitment are assisting a highly successful and progressive, Poole based manufacturing company with their search for a Buyer to join their growing team.

The Role

The successful candidate will be part of a small team of buyers, who are responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials to customer and company specifications. You will take ownership of purchase orders, from the time they are placed to the time they are delivered.

You will also be liaising with internal departments, suppliers and customers to manage supply levels, negotiate appropriate terms and handle supplier contracts.

Within this role, it's important to be familiar with customer needs, market trends, policies, and procedures.

Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, this challenging and rewarding role will involve:

• Compare quotes from suppliers
• Raising orders and full ownership of buying in line with schedules
• Ongoing purchase order maintenance such as acknowledgements, pre-progression, and late deliveries
• Review and consolidate requirements to reduce stock levels and orders placed
• Generating material costings
• Creation of Bills of Materials in the MRP system
• Maintain accurate material information on the MRP system
• Effective supplier management, including strategic partnerships with regular performance reviews
• Full management of supplier quality and service issues
• Independently source new suppliers and materials within specifications
• Ensure that all required material is available on time as per company Production Plan
• Escalate all issues directly to the Materials Manager

About You
We are open to industry experience as specific knowledge can be trained, however you will need to be a confident, team player who has strong communication skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines.

Essential Skills:
• Able to use own initiative
• Strong negotiation skills
• Comfortable speaking to customers and suppliers, with excellent telephone manner
• Good numeracy and literacy
• Good knowledge of Excel, Word, and working knowledge of MRP systems
• Smart, professional appearance
• Work in a safe manner, be aware of Health & Safety Law, and Safe Lifting guidelines.
• Follow all reasonable instructions given by the management.
• Maintain a positive attitude to ensure that company time is used effectively

Pay and Benefits
Salary - £28-30K per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
On-site parking
Monday to Thursday - Early Finish Friday.
