Experienced Buyer- Residential/Commercial, Refurbishment

Job Summary

My Clienthas an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis at their office in Middlesbrough.

Responsible for the buying/purchasing on a number of smaller projects with a value of £1.0m to £5.0m. As well as new build projects up to a value of £20m

They are involved mainly with the refurbishment of commercial properties and to develop them into state of the art apartments, offices or student accommodation.

They also has a number of 'new-build’ schemes in the pipeline.

Task& Responsibilities

· Efficient preparation and submission of tenders/documentation to suppliers.

· Analysing drawings, bills of materials / quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs.

· Raising POs for raw materials and component parts

· Identification and assessment of new vendors

· Expediting supplier deliveries and negotiating with suppliers to achieve improvement on lead times

· Working proactively to resolve any supply issues with the overall objective of improving OTIF

· Negotiating pricing and other terms with suppliers to improve cost base and deliver savings

Our ideal candidate will be:

· Experienced in a Purchasing or Buyer role within the construction sector.

· Experienced working in a time-critical environment

· Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills

· Proficient in the use of Excel together with accounts packages e.g. Sage

Our ideal candidate will have:

. Formal training in a buying (or estimating) role in the building sector

. Good attitude and proactive

· Conscientious and responsible

· Comfortable working in a team-based environment

. Ethical skills when negotiating
