Monday to Thursday - Days & Nights rotating 12 Hour Shifts

Key Skills

• Apprenticed Trained Engineer either Electrical or Mechanical
• Experience of PLCs & Automated Machinery
• Knowledge of PPM Systems within Manufacturing

The Role

To strategically source and procure high quality packaging materials in a cost-effective manner to meet the organisations production and distribution needs.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the company’s packaging requirements align with its overall business objectives, quality standards and sustainability goals. Your role as packaging buyer is instrumental in maintaining the seamless flow of materials to support the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional products while maintaining cost effectiveness and sustainability.

You will also be responsible for promoting Quality Culture by ensuring that all aspects of Food Safety, Legality, Quality and Product Authenticity are observed.

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for effective supplier relationship management and negotiating to secure favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Responsible for maintaining a reliable and diverse supplier base.
• Responsible for staying up to date with industry trends and innovations.
• Responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies to ensure the timely procurement of packaging material.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Conduct supplier evaluation.
• Negotiate supplier contracts.
• Resolve any issues that arise with suppliers.
• Stay informed about market trends, price fluctuations, and analyse market data to make informed decisions regarding sourcing and procurement.
• To provide cover for the Raw Materials Packaging Buyer in their absence.
• To identify and drive opportunities for process improvements within the sourcing and procurement functions, implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies.
• Identifying opportunities for cost savings through alternative sourcing or negotiations.
• Work closely with the Technical/Quality teams to ensure that packaging materials meet quality and regulatory standards including food safety.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including production, warehouse, finance, and commercial teams to ensure overall business objectives between departments are aligned in relation to our packaging requirements and overall business strategy.
