Recently recognised by Mortgage Introducer magazine, as the overall top mortgage employer 2023 and Buy to Let Lender of the year, Quantum Mortgages are a specialist Buy to Let lender, providing finance to professional landlords who are underserved by high street lenders and even many of the existing specialist lenders.

As a result of continued rapid growth and the need to help a growing number of intermediary partners, there is now an opportunity for additional Buy to Let Mortgage Underwriters.

As part of a small but dynamic team, you will underwrite new complex BTL applications, valuation reports and approve fully packaged cases for offer.

We are looking for someone with current experience of underwriting specialist Buy to Let mortgages in the UK as well as excellent administration, computer literacy, telephone communication skills and an ability to work well under pressure. Specific mortgage underwriting experience within the complex specialist buy-to-let mortgage sector will be necessary.

This is a rare opportunity to be a key part of a team building a specialist lender. Due to the new start nature, lots of flexibility is required to get involved in all aspects of the business rather than being stuck in a very defined role. In return, you will have the autonomy to develop your role, make an impact and have a clear career progression within a rapidly growing business.

Main responsibilities include:

  • To process & underwrite new loans in line with credit policy, the responsible lending policy, and the underwriting manual.
  • Assess borrower creditworthiness and underwrite new mortgage applications from initial receipt through to completion.
  • To participate and contribute to ongoing business improvement activity.
  • Deliver a first-class proactive customer service through inbound and outbound communication by telephone, email and letter to all case stakeholders including introducers, service suppliers, reference providers and occasionally applicants.
  • Build a thorough understanding of the products offered by the Firm, its lending strategy, credit risk policies, and processes.
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy of data entry and ongoing record keeping.
  • Supporting the processing team and underwriting peer group in delivering an excellent, compliant service with prompt and accurate decision at each stage of the process.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A current or recent Underwriting Mandate within specialist Buy to Let.
  • A good understanding of the mortgage process.
  • Knowledge of working under pressure to tight deadlines - a 'can do 'attitude.
  • Record/file management experience.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate ever changing business needs.

In return you can expect a working environment where you are trusted to plan your workload, without the usual corporate management styles or bureaucracy along with additional benefits such as:

A hybrid working pattern with a mixture of 2 office based days and 3 days a week home working.

Contributory pension scheme.

4 x Death in service life cover.

Vitality Private Medical Insurance & dental cover

23 days holiday plus an additional 2 days paid leave over Christmas.

Discretionary annual bonus.

Required skills

  • Mortgage Lending
  • Mortgage Underwriting
