Business Development Manager

General Haulage & 3PL Transport Operation

£65,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)   

We are working in partnership with a leading national transport and logistics operation specialising in general haulage and providing 3PL transport solutions. With a strong track record of success and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, we are dedicated to continuously improving our operations and expanding our business.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join the team. This role will be responsible for overseeing new business sales, solution development contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the company.

The salary for this position is flexible and will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications.

The Candidate;

  • Proven experience winning new within the general haulage and 3PL/4PL sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation industry, including market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully acquiring new clients and driving revenue growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management systems and other relevant software applications.
  • Avid industry learner, naturally curious and highly passionate about the transport/logistics sector.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive client development strategy to maximize revenue and profitability, focusing on general haulage and 3PL transport services.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base and increase market share. Establish and maintain relationships with potential clients, negotiate contracts, and secure long-term partnerships.
  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business. Understand client needs, anticipate requirements, and provide tailored transport solutions to meet their expectations.
  • Pricing and Contract Management: Develop pricing strategies and ensure competitive and profitable rates are offered to clients. Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions. Conduct regular market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Team Player: Natural communicator and collaborator who builds strong international relationships and shares sales intelligence across the wider NT sales team in a bid to contribute to the overall success of the group.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize operational and financial risks.
