The Position

We are currently seeking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join our UK & Ireland Sales & Relationship Management team. Working closely with the Head of UK & Ireland Distribution, this individual will play an important role in driving growth across Wellington's full product suite with Financial Intermediaries in the UK.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:
  • Working in close partnership with the Head of Distribution to execute the UK wealth management sales strategy with local intermediaries;
  • Providing dedicated client coverage, focused on driving growth across funds/strategies, in line with business priorities;
  • Contributing to the team's collaborative approach to relationship building with strategic distribution partners, including identifying, developing, and nurturing key contacts;
  • Managing and developing existing client relationships, highlighting key focus funds/strategies, contributing to building buy list positions, and identifying new opportunities to partner with key firms;
  • Contributing to the development of wider industry relationships with influencers within the Wealth Management & Advice channel, e.g. trade bodies/ratings agencies;
  • Recording and maintaining all significant client contact, and managing pipeline updates, on Salesforce, and ensuring that notes are captured accurately;
  • Partnering closely with Marketing and PR colleagues to ensure that local marketing and sales strategies are closely aligned, and contributing to the continued growth in brand awareness;
  • Providing guidance and direction to Business Development Associates and Relationship Analysts;
  • Actively contributing to team sales meetings, strategy planning and development.
  • Traveling within the UK to support the team's distribution effort with key accounts, contributing to client events, roadshows, and education.
Qualifications

The successful candidate is likely to:
  • Have 10+ years of relevant industry experience, working closely with advisers and wealth managers in the UK. This should include 3-5 + years' experience in a business development role;
  • Have a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and managing a network of client relationships within the UK distribution market;
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of competitors, products, key market trends, UK infrastructure (platforms and data vendors), and industry developments;
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of financial markets, and an ability to influence through a content-led, consultative sale approach;
  • Be action orientated, accountable, committed, driven and self-motivated, with excellent communication and team working skills;
  • Have the ability to prioritise, focus, eliminate roadblocks and execute a sales strategy in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust, and a client centric focus;
  • Have a strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree. A relevant professional qualification (e.g. IMC, CFA) or progress towards one, is preferred.
