Our client is one of the leading specialists in high-end independent film, representing some of the world's leading auteurs. As a well-established business, they cover all aspects of finance, sales, marketing and distribution of high calibre films.
We are looking for an experienced lawyer or business affairs professional to join the team on a 6-12 month contract initially. You will have previous exposure to film or TV licensing and distribution, ideally including experience with a distribution rights management system such as iRights.
Role description:
You will report directly to the Head of Legal & Business Affairs, working with distributors and producers across a broad range of commercial and legal work. This includes advising on a complete range of matters relating to film distribution and day to day management of all legal and business aspects of the distribution business.
There is scope for remote or hybrid working and flexible working hours. Our client will consider candidates on a part-time or full-time basis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of distribution agreements and other legal documents
- Managing pre-sale collaterals and NOAs on financial closings
- Supporting the sales team during and after film markets, including advising on and negotiating commercial/legal terms of a film title at the deal/offer stage
- Liaising with our client’s delivery servicing agent on all aspects of delivery of a film
- Dealing with all other aspects concerning distributor matters including, for example, managing the process of withholding tax and censorship documentation, monitoring any potential territorial conflicts, tracking delivery timelines
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Business Affairs Executive to work for a collaborative, fun and harmonious film business, which has an inclusive and respectful culture.
