Role: Children's Support Worker

Location: Burnley

Pay: £15 - £20 an hour

Hours:

  • Day (12 hour shift) / Waking Night (12 hour shift)
  • Long day sleeps (8am to 11pm sleep in)

About the role

We are currently looking for passionate, pro-active, and engaging children's support workers to work with our young people in Burnley. This role will be working with children and young people with a range of different challenges but will centre around self-harm and absconding issues. You will be required to have at least 1 year of UK experience working in a similar role. These positions are on a 2:1 and 3:1 basis.

Duties include:

  • You will be required to ensure that our children and young people are provided with the highest quality of care and to assist them reaching their full potential.
  • To promote independence in living alone or in a supported living environment within a healthy home environment.
  • To promote going out in the community and engage in activities.
  • To ensure children's safety and well-being is appropriately protected at all times.
  • To provide detailed written notes for each shift.
  • To professionally liaise with professionals.
  • Uphold essential safeguarding.
  • To effectively communicate with the service user and professionals.

The young people involved in these placements can have a range of needs, including:

  • Challenging & aggressive behaviour
  • Self-Injury
  • Mental health diagnosis
  • Victims of the range of abuses
  • Inappropriate behaviours

Criteria for these roles are:

  • Child and Adult DBS - on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous Experience in a similar role (1 year UK experience).
  • References covering the last 3 years
  • Willingness to travel to different areas.
  • A willingness to attend our TMVA training (Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression), medication training and ligature training which all paid for by ourselves as this will be essential to the role.
