Building Surveyor- Interim

• Salary Grade: £300-£400 a day

We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Property Services team. This role involves a range of building surveying functions, including planning and implementing maintenance works, minor capital works, and conducting condition surveys. The successful candidate will ensure our buildings are maintained to high standards, meeting health and safety, statutory, and other requirements within allocated budgets.

• Undertake maintenance, alteration, and extension projects on existing buildings, including those not owned by the Local authority.
• Prepare feasibility studies, sketch designs, and cost estimates after discussing requirements with service departments and external customers.
• Assess structural damage, coordinate safety work, and manage reinstatement work in collaboration with Insurer’s Fire Assessors.
• Maintain a flexible and positive attitude towards change, managing any work practice adjustments due to legislation effectively.
• Promote the professional services provided by Property Services and uphold the Equal Opportunities Policy.

• Proven experience in building surveying, particularly in maintenance and minor works.
• MRICS
• Ability to prepare detailed reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining safe working environments.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to use own car or lease a car from the Authority (essential user car allowance provided).
• Willingness to attend training courses, conferences, and meetings as necessary for professional development.
