Do you have previous industrial experience in the area of drug discovery? Can you generate LC-HRMS metabolite profiling data from the analysis of in vitro & in vivo samples?

We are recruiting for a Biotransformation Scientist to work for our clients Biotransformation & Enzymology Group. You will be providing cross-project support across a range of new chemical entities from early stage hit identification through to pre & post-clinical evaluation.

As part of this team you will be a laboratory-based scientist with experience in the profiling of the biotransformation pathways of NCEs using LC-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry. Additional skills such as with other analytical techniques, in vitro methods and general lab skills would be advantageous. The successful candidate will enjoy a diverse and dynamic workflow supporting a number of projects.

This role is offered on a full time 12 month contract basis initially.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate LC-HRMS metabolite profiling data from the analysis of in vitro & in vivo samples
  • Efficiently generate, report and disseminate data to Biotransformation representatives
  • Design and execute biotransformation-based assays to address key issues
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance of LC-MS systems within the group
  • Develop analytical methods for new chemical modalities

Qualifications / Experience:

  • An experienced graduate or post-doctoral scientist (BSc. / MSc. / PhD) in chemistry or biochemistry
  • Previous industrial experience in the area of drug discovery (3+ years)
  • High resolution mass spectrometry and chromatography experience (HPLC, uHPLC, LC-HRMS) of small molecules
  • An understanding of biotransformation pathways of NCEs
  • Experience in general in vitro lab skills
  • Be able to learn new laboratory skills quickly, demonstrate ability to follow protocols but also to design new experiments with excellent method development skills
  • Autonomous, highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and a collaborative approach suited to a team working environment

Preferred requirements:

  • Understanding of HRMS and MS fragmentation pathways for structural elucidation
  • Understanding of metabolising systems and associated laboratory techniques
  • Familiarity with Sciex and/or Thermo LCMS software, and any associated analytical or biotransformation related software
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols

In 2025, this site will relocate from Slough to Windlesham Surrey
