Empowering Learning are working alongside a school in the NG13 area who are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to support a group of children who present with EBD & SEMH

This role is due to start as soon as possible. The job will be on a fixed term contract until July 2024 and the hours of work are 08:30 - 4:00. There is a possibility the role will become permanent for the right person.

The main duties within this role will be:

  • Providing in class support to pupils who struggle to engage in class
  • Following the school's behaviour and reward system to engage children
  • De-escalating situations where challenging behaviour has arisen
  • Helping children devise strategies to help improve their behaviours
  • Working on a 1:1 basis with children with EBD
  • Liaising with the school SENCO around progress of targeted pupils

The school are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience of working with children with EBD
  • Possesses at least one years' school experience
  • Can build excellent relationships with the children
  • Is able to engage children in academic lessons
  • Can successfully de-escalate situations of challenging behaviour
