This firm of experienced accountants is looking for a detail-orientated and highly organised professional, with good time management and strong IT skills who can oversee the WIP for a significant client portfolio in the legal sector with large associated turnovers. You’ll be ACCA/ACA qualified and have several years of practice experience on your CV.

This Audit and Accounts Manager job in Cheltenham will suit someone who is confident in a client facing role, so excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - will be essential. You will be able to build trusted and long-lasting relationships with clients, whilst always striving to deliver excellence.

Job Purpose

  • Management of audits, from planning to completion including reviewing SRA accounts rules and some field work.
  • Preparation of accounts for a diverse range of clients in the legal sector, as well as tax computations.
  • Lead a portfolio of clients, from resource planning to WIP and budget management.
  • Work closely with clients to build trusted relationships, being the go-to for support.
  • Deliver a strong commercial awareness, reviewing opportunities for fee development.Confidently present work to Partners, completing files to a high standard.
  • Be a part of discussions around restructuring, valuations, mergers, succession planning.
  • Underpin audit and accounts matters with current legislation and compliance.
  • Handle compliance queries from clients, acting as the main point of contact and delivering clear communications.
  • Provide quotes and estimate fees.
  • Assist with pitching to new clients and attending networking opportunities, championing new business for the firm.
  • Delegate work to, and mentor new trainees, supporting with their learning and development
  • Set an example for the team as a natural leader

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA or ACCA qualified or QBE with demonstrable accountancy practise experience.
  • Strong knowledge of audit and general accounting.
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge (to include UK GAAP, Companies Act legislation)
  • Enhanced attention to detail and risk analysis skills.
  • Able to develop enhanced client relationships and integrate themselves into each client’s way of working.
  • Excellent work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and reliable who is eager to progress
  • Confident in leading, nurturing and inspiring a team.
  • Effective communication skills are essential, both verbal and written.
  • Commercial awareness, with confidence to provide suggestions to Partners.
