The post holder is responsible for providing the lead nursing contribution to the infection prevention and control service to develop and maintain the quality and governance structures around infection prevention and control. The postholder will provide nursing leadership, be proactive, responsive. and sensitive to the needs of both staff and service users, demonstrating kindness and civility, in their approach to leadership for both agenda and teams.Main duties of the job include:
  • To lead the trust infection prevention agenda.
  • Support and advise the Trust on the national, regional and local agenda.
  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance.
  • Lead on incidents and outbreaks and deputise for the DIPC as required.
  • Ensure the Trust is compliant with all national , regional and local policies and has process and systems place to ensure the Trust can provide assurance and anticipate and manage developing issues
Required Qualifications:
  • Specialist Level Qualification in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent experience or willing to work towards
  • MSc in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent clinical master's degree or equivalent experience
  • Qualification/proven experience in teaching and educating in clinical practice.
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and competence within IPC
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current local, regional, and national initiatives relating to IPC
  • Proven ability of leading, influencing multi-professional teams
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work with children and families and any patients from all social backgrounds
  • Able to demonstrate working in partnership with other departments, trusts, and networks
  • Evidence of involvement in the planning and undertaking of clinical audit and dissemination of changes in practice
  • Able to motivate, supervise and develop others
  • Evidence of undertaking own research, or actively participating in research and implementing and disseminating findings
  • Evidence of commitment to practicing, monitoring and teaching a high standard of clinical care
  • Knowledge of local and national policy relating to infection prevention and control.
