My client in Maidstone is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Editor to join their dynamic editorial team. As an Assistant Editor, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping content, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining the quality of our publications. If you have a passion for words, an eye for detail, and a background in journalism or copywriting, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the editor-in-chief and other team members to plan and execute editorial projects.
  • Assist in commissioning articles, features, and other written content.
  • Evaluate manuscripts, ensuring they align with our brand voice and style guidelines.
  • Source supporting material such as illustrations, images, and references.
  • Expertly proofread and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Spot tiny mistakes, typos, and grammatical errors.
  • Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and publication standards
  • Conduct thorough research to verify facts, statistics, and references.
  • Cross-check information and ensure data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with writers and journalists to validate content.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • Experience in editing and publishing (internships or freelance work also count).
  • Strong working knowledge of publishing tools, such as MS Office and InDesign.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and social media platforms.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
