Assistant Contracts Manager - Waste Management

Our client, a well-established and successful company providing waste management services to a loyal client base in North Kent, is seeking a talented Assistant Contracts Manager to join their growing team.

In this key position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Contracts Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their waste management contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the North Kent waste management contracts.
  • Oversee data reporting and analysis, implementing electronic systems for efficient information management.
  • Manage staff resources, including shift rotas, overtime allocation, and annual leave.
  • Allocate and process tasks in the workshop, ensuring efficient scheduling and labour allocation.
  • Coordinate all resources and activities to effectively meet customer requirements.
  • Provide timely updates to customers and maintain clear and accurate communication channels.
  • Control expenditure and manage the Profit and Loss account effectively.
  • Identify and implement training opportunities to enhance staff skills.
  • Provide performance feedback and manage staff accordingly.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer representatives.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Comply with all company and customer health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Schedule fleet maintenance and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Continuously strive to improve business productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in corporate events to strengthen customer engagement and business development.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Experience in the waste management sector, preferably with knowledge of waste recycling, transport planning, fleet control, and facilities management.
  • Strong budgetary control and P&L management skills.
  • Excellent customer service focus and a proven ability to build strong relationships.
  • Commercial acumen and a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to balance commercial, operational, and compliance factors to achieve profitability and customer satisfaction.
