Assistant Accountant | Charity / Non For Profit | West London / Hybrid | 6 month fixed term contract | £34-37,000 pro rata

This dynamic well funded global charity organisation is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to assist the finance department in West London with various aspects of financial reporting and support colleagues in dealing with accounting and processing. This is a 6 month fixed term position. Key duties include:

  • Overseeing processing of transactions ensuring these are fully managed and controlled in compliance with company policies, accounting principles and tax regulations. This includes multi currency bank transactions, purchase and sales invoices, petty cash and expense claims.
  • The role requires a good knowledge of VAT regulations and its application including preparation and submissions of quarterly returns.
  • Processing reimbursement claims for donors, staff and volunteers
  • Credit Control responsibilities.
  • Preparation/validation of supplier payments.
  • Processing daily transactions at month end and covering Finance Assistant's responsibilities during absence.
  • Involvement in projects, preparing other assignments delegated by the Head of Finance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) is central to this role. Communicating with external parties (donors, customers and vendors) as well as internally with colleagues within the department, UK and international colleagues.
  • Good working knowledge and experience with SAP accounting software or similar ERP systems (SAGE 200 and above, JD Edwards)
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 3-4 years' experience of working within a busy finance department
  • Good understanding of accounting and VAT processes, procedures and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative
  • Ability to identify problems and suggest solutions
  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Excellent multitasker with ability to work well under pressure
