A great opportunity has arisen for a skilled assembly technician to join a leading manufacturing company who supply to some of the UK's most successful companies. 

The Role:

  • Carry out the first build, fitting and final assembly of special purpose machinery for the Automotive, Plastic, Aerospace & Medical Industries.
  • Assemble and fit the mechanical elements of machines, dealing with rectification work and engineering change as required.
  • Work with in-house personnel as required to resolve build and design issues.
  • Assist in the commissioning and development of machinery once it has been assembled and powered up.
  • Lead projects appointed to you throughout the build stage on the shop floor.
  • Install, commission and gain approval of machinery at customer’s facilities.

Key Tasks:

  • Build the equipment to the agreed time scale. Assemble and test pneumatic system & route pneumatic pipework. At times assist electrical build, routing cables etc.
  • Ensure the equipment is kept clean and damage free during the build, equipment to be built to a high standard of care and presentation.
  • Keep the bench, work area and general factory areas clean and tidy • Mechanically set-up the completed equipment prior to development.
  • Set all pneumatic cylinders and reed switches prior to development. • Manually check operation of each element of the process prior to development.
  • Assist in development of equipment from power up to customer acceptance tests
  • Assist in installation, commissioning and approval of equipment at customers site.

Beneficial Skills:

  • Due to the nature of this role this position requires an experienced Mechanical Fitter with sound knowledge and understanding of assembling machinery and automation equipment.
  • The ideal candidate will have completed an appropriate recognised engineering apprenticeship with corresponding qualifications.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is essential
  • Experience of building special purpose machinery or similar precision mechanical machinery
  • Good knowledge & understanding of mechanical principles
  • Experience & understanding of pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge & experience of electrical wiring, with appropriate qualification would be an advantage
  • Good presentation in front of customers is essential and the flexibility to periodically work off-site is required
