We want the best people in the industry to help us shape the future of building. We have tailored opportunities for apprentices, graduates, experienced professionals and ex-Armed Forces personnel to come and help us stay one step ahead, and build the homes that Britain needs.

Description

Our graduate will rotate through a number of Group functions and within our housebuilding divisions to gain an appreciation of how these different departments operate, their policies, procedure, internal controls and compliance. They will also benefit from opportunities to undertake a Million Makers project, the option to study for a relevant risk or audit professional qualification and will undertake a series of development modules including leadership, communication, project management, presentations and performance management.

In both years of the programme, our graduate will spend time with the Risk, Control and Internal Audit Team, enabling them to gain an in-depth knowledge of risk management processes, internal control frameworks and planning and performing internal audits for a range of divisional and group functions. In addition to this, they will have the opportunity to participate in continuous monitoring activities, and tracking the progress of management actions arising from audit observations with a view to driving continuous improvement across the organisation. Successful graduates will also contribute to business change projects to ensure the processes followed lead to successful organisational outcomes.

WHAT WILL I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

  • Contribute to the Group's ongoing Enterprise Risk Management Framework
  • Working with Group Heads of Functions to continually improve the internal controls within their respective functions
  • Contributing to the planning, delivery and reporting on divisional audits for a number of operational functions
  • Participating in group central function audits where required
  • Continuous monitoring of divisional practice to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Contributing towards Group Finance objectives by driving volunteering activities in the local area
  • Contributing to continuous development within Barratt by undertaking Divisional/Regional/Group projects as agreed with your mentor

Profile

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

  • A 2:2 degree, equivalent or higher qualification; ideally in a subject related to the Built Environment, particularly if you are applying for a technical or construction role. If you don't have a related degree, you can still apply, but you'll need to demonstrate a passion for the industry and outline your transferrable skills.
  • Self-confident, articulate, resilient and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A lateral and innovative thinker; sees change as an opportunity and challenge for the business
  • Able to work on own initiative, with the drive to take ownership of projects
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to build effective and mutually beneficial working relationships both internally and externally
  • Is passionate about the customer and is a role model of this behaviour to others in the business
  • Displays energy and enthusiasm to deliver goals and achievements
  • Driven, self-motivated and results driven for self and business
  • UK driving license if outside central London
