Job Title: Art and Design Teacher
Location: Cranborne, Dorset
Salary: £24,000 - £35,896 (M1-UPS2)
Hours: 32 hours a week

We are currently seeking an Art and Design teacher to join an innovative provider of Specialist Education in Cranborne.


The main purpose of the role:
As an Art and Design Teacher, you will deliver high quality teaching and learning to pupils aged 11-16 with ASC, social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders and mental health needs. The focus is on increasing academic and vocational qualifications and knowledge, whilst achieving independent living skills that will equip our pupils for the next stage in their lives, be that further education, or other training. The key to success will be your ability to communicate your passion for art in a way that inspires pupils to develop a love of art and the part it places in their own and lives of others. To promote the types of future careers that can be achieved through the art curriculum.
The ability to be able to teach Art and Design up to GCSE level is essential.


Successful candidate qualities:
Essential:

  • PGCE, QTS/QTLS, or equivalent Level 5 teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • To be able to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs in Art and Design

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a school environment, ideally in specialist education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing pupils’ progress.
  • Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage pupils in enabling positive relationships.
