Job Title: Area Manager - Fostering Team

Location: East Riding of Yorkshire Council

About Us: Ackerman Pierce, a leading social work recruitment agency, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Area Manager to oversee the Fostering Team on behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Role Overview: As the Area Manager for our Fostering Team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational management to a team of four Team Managers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of fostering services, promoting positive outcomes for children in care, and supporting foster carers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Fostering Team, ensuring high standards of practice and service delivery.
  • Supervise and support four Team Managers, offering guidance, coaching, and performance management as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, assess, and support foster carers, ensuring they receive appropriate training and ongoing support.
  • Oversee the allocation of children to foster placements, ensuring placements are safe, suitable, and in line with their needs.
  • Monitor and review the quality of foster placements, conducting regular reviews and evaluations to ensure the well-being and progress of children in care.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including social workers, partner agencies, and regulatory bodies, to promote collaborative working and partnership working.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and policies governing fostering services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Social Worker with HCPC registration.
  • Substantial experience working in a fostering or children's services environment, with a thorough understanding of fostering regulations and best practice.
  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role, with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to children in care and fostering services.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
