Are you ambitious, mechanically minded, love fixing things and have a passion for vehicles? Earn as you learn to become a fully qualified Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Technician, part of a dedicated team that maintains Grundon's fleet of waste collection vehicles to a high standard. Under the supervision and guidance of our vehicle workshop at Ewelme in South Oxfordshire, combined with study at college (for 3 years), you will gain the skills and on-the-job training to achieve a Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Heavy Vehicle) Apprenticeship Level 3, like many apprentices before you. Interested? Starting pay is around £286 per week, which will increase as you progress, and our benefits include discretionary bonuses, pension scheme (you contribute 5% of pay, Grundon matches this), 30 days’ annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays), which will increase with service, and reward and discount shopping scheme.

What will I be doing as Apprentice LGV Technician?

Keeping our vehicles reliable and roadworthy is all in a day’s work for our LGV Technicians! Our six workshops look after all vehicle issues, including daily defects and any breakdowns, servicing, maintenance and MOTs.

You will help to prepare vehicles for workshop maintenance and assist with inspections, repairs and general maintenance of the fleet.

What we're looking for in our Apprentice LGV Technician

- Ideally, GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade D/3 or above)

- Experience is not essential, but a positive and professional attitude is!

- You are good at communicating, both face-to-face and on paper, and you’re capable of using your initiative

- You must be someone who enjoys working as part of a team, and understands the importance of being reliable

- You will be able to demonstrate an awareness of safety for yourself and other people

- You are computer-savvy and know how to look up information, and you have good problem-solving skills

- If you don’t already have a full UK driving licence, you are willing to gain one (and you'll need your own transport due to site location)

Working hours: You must be happy with early starts! If you are under 18 your working week will be Mon to Fri, 8am to 4.30pm (30 mins for lunch) – 40 hours. If you are 18+, you will be eligible to join the local workshop shift system, depending on the requirements and staffing levels at that time.
