A leading logistics and supply chain solutions company.

The role:

As AP Manager you will take responsibility for the operational activities of the Accounts Payable function, managing an outsourced AP provider to achieve high levels of service that ensure our suppliers are paid in line with the company policy. You will work with the P2P GPO to identify opportunities for improvement, and execute plans with the overall goal of achieving operational excellence across all aspects of the P2P process. Duties will include:

  • Responsible for the operational activities of the Accounts Payable function; supplier base of over 3000, invoice volumes of >250k per year, 1500 people raising purchase orders, annual spend >£500m. 
  • Ensure supplier payments are made on a timely and accurate basis
  • Oversee 5 main functions in AP operated out of a Shared Service Centre in India:.
  • Invoice matching & automation (250,000 per year)
  • Invoice query resolution (1500 requisitioners)
  • Payments (£500m per year)
  • Supplier helpdesk (3000 suppliers)
  • Expense payments to colleagues
  • Drive optimal performance of these functions via data-driven KPIs and metrics, and problem resolution via root-cause analysis.
  • Take direct responsibility for mitigating actions such as recovery of overpayments and resolution of legal escalations with suppliers.
  • Manage the AP elements of the month-end process such as direct debit payment and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues to achieve the goals you set for the AP function
  • Work with the GPO to drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Corporate Cards, use of the Supplier Portal and automated invoice technologies such as e-invoicing.
  • Work with the SSC to optimize performance of the AP team
  • Work with Procurement and suppliers to ensure compliance to our invoicing process
  • Work with the business to ensure compliance to the purchasing process
  • Oversee the operation of the supplier helpdesk to ensure high levels of satisfaction for its customers

The ideal AP Manager:

  • Experience of- and a commitment to- working in an offshore AP model; knowing what it takes to achieve high service levels
  • A dependency on data and analysis to prioritise the workload of the team and to identify areas of improvement.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement
  • Subject Matter Expert in AP and P2P
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment where immediate action is often required.
  • Experience of managing an offshore team and ability to influence their performance.
  • Strong character with the ability to objectively listen and respond to criticism and escalations.
  • Ability to understand processes, identify failings and create quick and effective solutions.
  • Ability to engage others and forge alliances with stakeholders.
  • A strong performance mindset and ability to get the job done.

What you will receive in return:

  • Hybrid working model with one day per week in the office
  • A 9 month fixed term contract
  • £60,000 - £70,000
