One of the fantastic schools we support is an SEN School in Shrewsbury is looking for Teaching Assistants and Learning Support to start in January 2024 on a full time supply basis!

At Excell Supply, we are CONSTANTLY looking for some fantastic Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants with a genuine interest in supporting pupils that have SEN/ALN and assisting their development to get the very best out of them. Experience is as highly valued as qualifications.

We are an education specialised recruitment company, supplying Teaching Assistant's, Learning Support Assistant's and Teachers to SEN Specialist schools and mainstream schools, all over Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Cheshire, Powys and North Wales.

About the role:-

  • Working with groups of children aged between 4 and 18 (Key Stages 1,2 3 and 4) and being a vital part of their learning journey.
  • Following instructions and guidance given by the class teacher.
  • Ensuring children’s safety in and out of the classroom.
  • Supervising children during break and lunchtime (if requested)
  • Aiding the Teacher, if the student is struggling to understand, then offer another perspective to the student
  • Helping with lesson plans
  • Observing and providing feedback to the class teacher about the children’s learning and progression.
  • Effectively managing off-task behaviours.

About you :-

  • Although qualifications are always helpful, experience is just as important we find.
  • Other relevant qualifications include, Health and Social Care, Childcare courses, Teaching Assistant courses among many.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can assist you in applying for this)
  • Experience working within children, or adults in a care or educational capacity.
  • Transferrable skills such as teamwork, initiative, flexibility, adaptability, remaining calm under pressure, caring and helpful.
  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviour. Examples of situations how you would/have dealt with a challenging situation
  • Effective solutions to deal with challenging behaviour (with examples if not stated in above statement)
  • A calming attitude, that relaxes the student if they are stressed or angry.
  • Easy to communicate with and approachable
  • Supportive when students ask questions / for help
  • A never say no mindset
