Accounts, tax & Audit Manager - Medium Sized firm
Central London (50% hybrid)

Butler Rose, public practice is delighted to be supporting our client, a prominent medium sized firm with fantastic offices based at a prestigious Central London address.
The practice operates as a 'General Practice' firm and so the role will incorporate accounts, tax, and audit with an approximate 70% accounts and tax, and 30% audit split.

Role Requirements -

Managing a truly diverse portfolio of clients from a range of industries and of varying T/O you will:

  • Review the accounts produced by team members to ensure they are technically accurate and are to the firm's prescribed format.
  • Discuss accounts with clients and the wider issues considering being a business advisor as well as financial accountant. Able to analyse and discuss figures in a commercial context.
  • Briefing and assisting junior colleagues with client work as required, ensuring best practice and promoting the development of a good skillset within the firm.
  • Provide objective and proactive advice to clients on areas around accounts interpretation and advice on changes to bookkeeping and other systems.
  • Coordination and supervision of junior staff before and during preparation in order to ensure efficient and the timely production of monthly management accounts.
  • Fully understand and appreciate the figures and issues that are of significance to specific clients and constantly tailor management information to suit needs.
  • Working under own initiative and taking full responsibility for the whole client audit considering planning, fieldwork and finalisation of the audit.
  • Ability to design and supervise the work of juniors in order to ensure efficient undertaking of wholly appropriate audit tests, reviewing their work and setting an example whilst at client premises.
  • Timely completion of audit file following audit ensuring all follow up completed and management/partner review can be done effectively and efficiently.
  • Final review of corporation tax returns and associated schedules ensuring they are accurate.
  • Consideration of all potential tax planning strategies and discussing options with partner and client
  • Specific working knowledge of relevant tax incentive schemes, such as EMI, SEIS, EIS, R&D etc. and ability to explain the benefits and drawbacks to clients in a concise and clear manner.


Person Requirements -

  • ACA or ACCA with 2+ years' post qualification experience working for a UK based general practice firm at a manager level
  • Directly managed or supervised junior members of staff to including reviewing and coaching.
  • Proven experience of managing a diverse client portfolio of £250k+ fees
