A well-known, leading Chartered Accountancy firm is looking to recruit a Accounts Assistant in GlasgowThis role is ideally suited to a candidate who wants to develop and progress within a finance role. 

The Company

This is an exciting time to join this accountancy firm as they are in a period of growth and are expanding all teams across their Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast offices.  This company employs around 250 members of staff across several offices and has a wide range of client portfolios. 

The Role

As an Accounts Senior, you will support the Management Accountant with other key processes within the wider finance team, such as month end reporting, and process improvements, as well as general finance administration duties.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Full ownership of the monthly management accounting cycle for your clients
  • Review the work of junior staff, and be willing to devote time to coach and develop them
  • Work with the Technology Systems team to help design and implement innovative reports and dashboards for clients to access in real-time via smartphones and tablet
  • Work closely with the Finance Operations team to ensure efficiency of the Purchase to Pay cycle and accurate recording of accruals and prepayments
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and audit requirements by maintaining robust controls
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, initiating ideas to develop processes and controls.
  • Liaise with auditors during clients’ external audits.
  • Analysis of KPI's & metrics as required by clients and company management
  • Dealing with ad hoc queries from hotel clients on top of BAU work

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Experience and skill set required for the role: 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant practical work experience
  • Proactive self-starter with ability to problem solve
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of Excel skills would be very advantageous
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organising and prioritising work to meet reporting deadlines
  • Experience of Navision or other ERP systems highly desirable
