Berry Recruitment are NOW hiring for a committed and experienced Accounts Assistant (Part Time) to work for a fantastic organisation in Oxford.

Role: Accounts Assistant - Part Time

Salary: £28,085 per annum pro rata'd to £22,468 for 29 hours.

Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire.

Hours: 29 Hours Per Week **Offered on an 18 month Fixed Term Contract**

To post and reconcile all bank account transactions in an accurate and timely manner.

To collate charges and issue accurate statements to the senior members of the College for personally incurred charges.

To generate and issue invoices for non-conference related activity on a timely basis.

Assist with the purchase ledger process when required and other administrative processes in the finance team.

About the role:
As Accounts Assistant your duties will be:

  • Preparation of cashbooks detailing payments and receipts from bank statements and post to accounting software weekly.
  • Record on-line battels payments.
  • Investigation of any unusual transactions.
  • Liaison within the finance team and other budget holders to correctly classify all payments.
  • Assist the finance team to respond to student queries regarding payments of fees, battels and sales invoices.
  • Reconcile the bank current account and Deposit Account on a weekly basis.
  • Assist with any banking related queries e.g. cheque deposits.
  • Assist with bank administration.
  • Prepare invoices and credits when required.
  • Prepare simple calculations with respect to invoices.
  • Review aged debtors and chase outstanding balances as needed.
  • Reconcile sundry sales ledger on a monthly basis.
  • Process booking invoices.
  • Monitor and refund Chapel booking deposits.
  • Reconcile allowances on a monthly basis to nominal ledger.
  • Inform fellows of balances when requested and proactively where allowances have been exceeded
  • Regular reconciliation of the suspense account.
  • Investigate any unknown items posted to suspense.
  • Post simple journals to remove items from the suspense account to the correct location.
  • Preparation and posting of meal charges to relevant departments/individuals.
  • Preparation and posting of wine charge journals.
  • Preparation and posting of guest room bookings.
  • Preparation and posting of other ad hoc senior battels charges.
  • Reconciliation of Senior battels miscellaneous account.
  • Issuing statements to senior members and responding to queries.
  • Provide information to the accounts assistant (battels) for charges relating to junior members.
  • Liaison with catering team to ensure that charges have been captured.
  • Liaison with the purchase ledger and payroll accountant for deductions to be made by payroll.
  • Follow up old balances with assistance from the Finance Manager.
  • Provide cover for the Payroll and Purchase ledger accountant when required.
  • Obtaining approvals for payment.
  • Processing invoices in the accounting software.
  • Preparing the payment run.

About you:

  • least 3 years recent (within last 10 years) accounts experience including computerised purchase and sales ledgers and knowledge of cash book processing.
  • English standard: spoken and written to GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above.
  • Good keyboard and numeracy skills - speed and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Outlook and Excel
  • Proven ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and the ability to deal reliably with confidential information.
