Our client is a dynamic and forward-thinking Practice in Harpenden that is now looking to expand its team.

They have several Trainee Accountants and are therefore seeking a manager to oversee the day-to-day support, training, and management of the team, as well as managing their own portfolio.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in Practice, either currently or someone who transitioned to industry but now desires to return to practice. It presents a progressive opportunity aligned with the firm's growth plans, requiring someone ready to grow with the business.

Our client has recently moved into a large, modern, and contemporary new office space and is keen on building their team and client numbers.

Duties Include:

• Accounts production (from QB Xero trial balance to statutory accounts publishing)
• Quality control (ensuring consistent application of bookkeeping day-to-day and accounting processes across all clients, now numbering 600 plus)
• Timelines - Ensuring all annual, quarterly, and monthly filings of all taxes and statutory returns are completed well ahead of deadlines (for example, VAT due technically 5 weeks after the end of a quarter is done, approved, and filed within 2-3 weeks)
• Management of team (appraisals, development, discipline, sickness, return-to-work interviews, and holidays management)
• Professional development of the team through on-the-job training, Q&A sessions during office hours, and assisting with examination questions and practice from time to time
• Generating revenue for the firm through a small portfolio of larger/more technical clients and activities, measured on fee notes/invoices issued month on month.

Skills:

• High attention to detail and excellent man-management and time-management skills
• Good knowledge of all main accounting packages but particularly Xero
• Ability to communicate with clients and delegate tasks where appropriate.

Experience:

• Accountancy practice: 3 years (required)
• Management: 1 year (required)
• Xero: 2 years (required)

The ideal candidate will be fully qualified ACA or ACCA and have experience managing a team. The practice is also open to considering individuals who are QBE with relevant Practice experience. The candidate must be highly professional, and results driven. Please note that this role will be full-time, and office based.
