To provide housing related support to enable vulnerable people to remain in their accommodation and prevent homelessness across all tenures in Flintshire

2.1 To visit and provide housing related support to all clients who have been identified, by the Housing Options Team, as being vulnerable and unable to sustain accommodation without low level support.

2.2 To assist clients with the completion of Housing Benefits forms and any other documentation which will maximise the client’s income and ensure accommodation payments are made.

2.3 To be responsible for ensuring that robust procedures are in place to identify changes in client’s circumstances to prevent any threat of homelessness.

2.4 To identify any additional support needs and assist the Housing Options Officer with the completion of referrals to other support agencies, internal or external. Attend, when necessary, meetings relating to the well being of the client.

2.5 To be responsible for completing comprehensive reports in order to keep the Housing Options Team updated on clients progress. Collate accurate statistical information to form part of the internal and external Performance Indicators.

2.6 To comply with Health and Safety Policy on lone working.

2.7 To advocate on behalf of the client with Private Landlords / Housing Officers etc, on issues relating to tenancy conditions, rent arrears and any other housing related matters.

2.8 To be able to manage a high level of support need cases in an efficient, professional and confident manner.

2.9 To assist with any other duties requested by the Senior Housing Options Officer

Essential

Education

A relevant professional qualification directly related to working with any of the potential client groups

Experience

Relevant experience of working in a housing environment within the public sector.

Skills

Excellent communication skills both written and oral together with in depth knowledge of various IT systems and the ability to create spreadsheets, reports etc. as well as direct experience of maintaining an efficient data base.

Proven ability to manage a case load and maintain accurate records
