  • Job Type: Full-time Temp contract for 3 months
  • Pay rate - £12.90 per hr paye

Sheffield City Council are looking for two Accommodation & Support Matching Officer to contribute to the effective delivery of the Supported Accommodation Pathway. The role involves supporting the placement of customers in housing need into the most suitable accommodation, ensuring a high-quality service that is continually improving and customer-focused.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Monitor available supported and temporary accommodation in the city via ICT channels.
  • Match referrals received for accommodation against available units and provide details to customers, providers, and referrers.
  • Liaise with providers to collect information on unit availability and ensure customer data is updated regularly.
  • Respond to queries regarding the availability of supported and temporary accommodation.
  • Assist with risk assessments for customers and providers and advise on securing personal possessions.
  • Collect, record, and pass on statistical and other information.
  • Provide administrative support, including answering telephone enquiries and working face to face with customers.
  • Interview customers, make copies of necessary documents, and ensure they are stored appropriately.
  • Assist customers with Housing Benefit claims and liaise with relevant parties to record details of placements.
  • Carry out visits to clients and premises as necessary.
  • Prioritise routine work with minimal supervision and process invoices as required.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability to support the operational delivery of the Housing Support Pathway.
  • Excellent customer focus and communication skills, with the ability to work sensitively with upset and/or traumatised customers.
  • Competent in ICT use, particularly Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Good numeracy skills and ability to collate and record statistical information.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Professional and positive representation of the Council.
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • We are looking for someone who is able to work in a fast paced busy environment.  The main duties of this role is booking temporary and supported accommodation for persons who are homeless who the council has a duty to accommodate.  This accommodation ranges from in house temporary accommodation to hotels and guest houses.  You will need to be competent with I.T , using spreadsheets and databases.  

  • You will participate in a rota where you may be required to cover First Point in Howden House and deal directly with the public.  You will need excellent customer service skills and be a confident communicator.
