Outreach 1:1 tutors urgently needed - Havering

Ackerman Pierce work closely with County Councils to provide one to one tutoring for children waiting for school placements. The children we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs and so we are seeking experienced SEN /HLTA's/tutors/teachers.

We are looking for a Qualified Secondary Tutor to support a student with ASD in need of KS3-KS4 core subject support outside of the classroom. This student requires tutoring 3 hours per day, 5 days per week.

As a Secondary Outreach Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lesson to bridge gaps in pupil's education and boost engagement and attainment levels. This opportunity is great for an experienced teacher who is looking to step away from the classroom to offer more personalised, enjoyable lessons. Most of these pupils will have been out of education for some time, so the confidence levels may be very low. It is your responsibility to reengage them in their learning and offer structure back into their daily routine.

Requirements

  • Background teaching in English, Maths, Science or SEND classes ranging from KS1-KS5
  • QTS status (or equivalent) or unqualified with two years' experience teaching NC core subjects
  • Two years of teaching in a UK school to SEND pupils
  • Experience working with ASD/EBD/SEMH and associated complex needs.
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as Safeguarding training is provided.
  • DBS on update service.
