Do you want to make a difference and change lives? Are you a proactive, enthusiastic, and engaging individual? If so, we want to hear from you today!

We are working with a fantastic Primary School in Newcastle (NE3) who are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Year 3 on a 1:1 basis. The pupil has ASD and does display challenging behaviour, so a key part of the role will be for the successful candidate to show resilience and excellent relationship-building skills to build a positive rapport with the pupil.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday. For the right candidate, there is the strong possibility of the role becoming permanent. The hours of work for the role will be 08.30-16.00.

The role will involve supporting the pupil with their learning and communicating effectively with Class Teachers to ensure appropriate strategies are used that are suited to the individual needs and learning styles of the pupil to allow them to engage with their learning and make excellent progress.

It is a brilliantly supportive, inspiring, and enjoyable environment for both students and staff. This is a role that will give you the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of children every day.

This role will involve:

  • Supporting a Year 3 pupil with challenging behaviour and SEND on a 1:1 basis.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities.
  • Preparing resources for lessons.
  • Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
  • Having a "hands on" approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with pupils.

This role requires:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although again, this is not essential.
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students. Again, this is not essential.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
  • An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils.

If you are interested in the role and would like to be considered, please apply for the role promptly as the school are looking for staff to start as soon
