Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting and Ofsted rated "Good" Primary School in Winsford as they are looking for a motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to cover on a part-time basis, 3 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). This role is due to sickness cover and is a 1:1 position, supporting a student in KS1 with Autism.

Your new role
In your new role, you will be supporting a student in KS1 on a 1:1 basis. This pupil does have complex needs, specifically ASD and does struggle with engagement and triggers during lessons. To promote their engagement, you will build strong constructive relations with the student by associating learning material with their interests and advocating for them as required. You will support during lessons by holding intervention and booster sessions in core subjects and regularly assisting with phonics and other areas as required. As they do trigger, you will be required to effectively manage said triggers by using behaviour management techniques, which will include effectively identifying and managing the students' trigger points, use distraction, de-escalation, and removing them from the classroom as required.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as referenceable experience supporting children and young people with SEN, as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience working with ASD
