We are delighted to be representing University, based in London, who are looking to appoint an Employment Solicitor on a permanent basis. This position is due to start immediately on a part time basis, with an office presence needed once a week. Duties will include (but are not limited to): Providing advice on employment and related law which could include: recruitment; employment contracts; disciplinaries and grievances; harassment and bullying; long-term absences; reasonable adjustments; whistleblowing; reward and recognition; statutory consultation, redundancy and dismissal; settlement agreements; trades unions and industrial action; and TUPE Advising and supporting individuals conducting hearings and investigations under the Universities policies and procedures Helping to assess whether matters need to be referred to external lawyers and working collaboratively with external solicitors and counsel Managing case work in Employment Tribunals and Courts, helping draft submissions and preparing employees giving evidence Advising on HR policies and processes, providing guidance and training to POD and the wider College around employment law issues such as disciplinaries and grievances, long-term absences, etc. to ensure consistency and help implement best practice; Contributing to the development of the Legal Services team, training and mentoring junior colleagues, assisting in building precedent banks and knowledge materials Skills, knowledge and expertise required: Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive (or equivalent experience) Recent experience working with Higher Education or public or third sector organisations Strong up-to-date knowledge across a broad range of employment and related law Benefits: 28 days annual leave + 6 paid closure days (4 at Christmas and 2 at Easter) Great transport links Defined benefit pension scheme Support for professional development Broad range of wellbeing initiatives such as: staff choir, running club and creative writing classes. Our client are looking for an Employment Advisor to be based in Croydon, Surrey, We are looking for individuals that have experience with complex sickness absence caseloads that can work in fast paced, large, unionised organisations and are used to managing a busy caseload. You will need to have experience in training and coaching managers in absence management and prepared to work in a hospital environment - You will be required to be on-site at least 4 days a week. The Employee Relations (ER) Advisor will provide first line Human Resources advice and support to employees and managers, in accordance with the company policies and procedures and good employment practices. They will work in partnership with the Senior Employee Relations Advisors and HR Business Partnering team to deliver an effective HR service, and will be the first point of contact for providing efficient, responsive and reliable advice for all general HR enquires providing expertise and advice to complex queries. The post holder will be required to identify, action, and follow up on queries of an internal and external nature - requiring expertise, knowledge and analysis of any problem and knowing when to escalate to the Senior ER Advisors. The post holder will have complete autonomy for managing their own time and diary commitments and lead on the management of complex sickness related absence cases for the Trust. This involves being responsible for managing, arranging and attending sickness review meetings, advising and supporting line managers, for both short term and long term absence right through to holding termination meetings. To support these cases the individual will be liaising with Occupational Health and ensuring outcome letters and actions are followed up in a professional and timely way that is compliant with employment legislation whilst supporting individuals through the process in a compassionate and dignified way.
