Are you an organised, efficient & self-motivated TRANSPORT MANAGER with experience in the Commercial Interiors / Construction product sector?

If so, we are working with a one of the UK’s leading Manufacturers and Installers of CONTRACT FURNITURE - Bedroom, Bathroom, Room Dividers and Walk in Wardrobes amongst other closely aligned bespoke furniture solutions.

They are seeking to recruit a motivated TRANSPORT MANAGER to join their team to play a vital part in supporting their business to manage and control the efficient movement of their goods to the customers. The Role

My client is seeking a highly organized and experienced TRANSPORT MANAGER to oversee their transportation operations. The TRANSPORT MANAGER will be responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of goods and materials, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining efficient transportation processes.

This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of supply chain management.

Duties

  • Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Plan and coordinate daily transportation activities, including route planning, vehicle scheduling, and driver assignments.
  • Monitor transportation operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to forecast transportation needs and ensure adequate resources are available.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, negotiating contracts and rates as needed.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of company vehicles, ensuring they are in safe operating condition.
  • Manage in house loading teaming, co-ordinating their activity with deliveries to ensure the materials are loaded into plots productively and safely.
  • Create job sheets for the unloading team that provides site maps, contacts and details on accessing the correct plots.
  • Track and analyse transportation data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to transportation staff, fostering a positive work environment.

Skills

  • Experience managing a fast-moving transport department including an internal fleet and the drivers ideally within the construction product sector.
  • Experienced practitioner of FORS to Silver accreditation standards
  • Transport Manager CPC Road Haulage qualification required.
  • CSCS card would be looked upon favourably
  • SMSTS qualification would be looked upon favourably
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Extensive experience in H&S
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to motivate and manage a team of transportation professionals.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Please note: working hours are 5:30am - 2:30pm so if you are not an early riser then this role isn’t going to be for you.

SALARY & BENEFITS VERY COMPETITIVE BASIC SALARY (up to £40,000) + BENEFITS
