About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sustainability LCA Specialist to join DS Smith at a pivotal point to drive our sustainability agenda forward. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) services to optimise the use of sustainable packaging solutions by our global customers, helping them to deliver on their decarbonisation targets and sustainability ambitions.

In this role, you will be conducting comprehensive LCAs to evaluate and quantify environmental impacts across the entire product life cycle. Using your expertise in data analysis and understanding of product footprints from cradle to cradle, you will prepare detailed reports and share insights to help internal and external stakeholders understand the sustainability credentials of our fibre-based packaging. You will further develop LCA data systems and product footprint tools.

About you

  • Degree in related field (Engineering, Environmental Science) with a focus on life cycle assessment
  • Demonstratable experience in delivering product life cycle assessments (ideally in manufacturing or related industries)
  • Deep expertise and practical experience in applying product LCA methodologies and tools, and a strong understanding of sustainability data and IT systems in general
  • Knowledge of carbon and environmental accounting standards and experience in reporting
  • Very strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently but also comfortable building strong working relationships with colleagues around the business
  • Initiative-taking, detail-orientated & solutions focused

This is a hybrid role, split between being home-based and limited travel to sites as needed.
