Reed HR are working alongside a large Educational Establishment based in North West London who are recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor on a permanent basis. 

This role is hybrid so travel into the office is required. 

Job Summary

Working in the HR Team, this role supports delivery of the strategy and has responsibility for the employee lifecycle for professional services and teaching staff. The HR Advisor provides quality advice on complex HR issues and delivers an engaging, solutions-focussed service to heads of departments, managers, staff and stakeholders. You will build trusted relationships with all levels of staff, guiding with tact, diplomacy, and integrity.

The HR Advisors are key in moving towards a data driven team, utilising the iTrent system and ensuring that HR metrics are developed, monitored and actioned.  

Key Accountabilities 

  • Regularly meet key stakeholders to discuss and understand the people challenges in each department, coach and support in the adoption of best HR and management practice.
  • Help departments deliver their goals, providing guidance on people practices from recruitment and training, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievances, change management, restructuring and succession planning, to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging and continuous feedback.
  • Embed Company culture, expected behaviours and help deliver the Company's mission.
  • Recruit and retain quality staff with a focus on safeguarding, diversity, equality, equity and inclusion.
  • Coach managers and provide advice on potential issues with a view to resolving informally where possible and advising on formal procedures as necessary.
  • Take ownership of employee relations cases, ensuring they are managed effectively in line with current employment legislation and best practice.
  • Support and drive forward the work on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Visas and Immigration legislation and right to work matters.
  • Draft and update policies and procedures and update staff on relevant policies.
  • Identify individual, departmental and management training needs, find cost-effective training or design and deliver training sessions in-house. 
  • Manage the online staff training system (Learn Upon) with the system suppliers and ensure high training completion rates.
  • Organise and run the Induction programme.
  • Develop the HR website and intranet pages to ensure they are current and user friendly.
  • Hold Disciplinary and Grievance investigation meetings as required.
  • Work closely with the HR Systems Adviser to develop the iTrent HR information system, to meet departmental and HESA statutory reporting needs and ensure accurate pay information.
  • Work with trade union representatives as appropriate to reach positive outcomes.
  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by the Head of People Operations.
