We are seeking a Head of People Services to join our senior leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping our people priorities. This role involves key responsibilities for workforce systems, workforce planning, pensions, payroll management, and employee benefits. The successful candidate will support the organisation through effective use of electronic employee systems, ensuring data security, accuracy, and optimisation of system capabilities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead on projects and initiatives to review and enhance workforce systems usage, recommend changes, and research options for new systems.
  • Provide professional advice and expertise on workforce data analysis, pensions, and benefits to support strategic development.
  • Generate and present reports for internal committees, ensuring professional and accurate presentation.
  • Review salary structures and support pay and grading restructures.
  • Lead and manage the People Services team, fostering continuous professional development and ensuring the team’s structure and function are fit for purpose.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with workforce system providers, payroll, insurance, and benefits contractors, ensuring KPIs are met and performance is regularly reviewed.
  • Provide expert advice on complex workforce, pension, and benefit issues, drawing on best practices in the NHS and commercial sectors.
  • Develop and refresh People Directorate policies and procedures related to your service area, monitoring their implementation and impact.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level with a Postgraduate management diploma or equivalent experience or training.
  • Chartered member of the CIPD (desirable).
  • Senior HR experience in a fast-paced organisation with a track record of achievement.
  • Thorough knowledge of HR, including employee relations and employment law.
  • Experience with HR and workforce information systems to enhance e-functionality.
  • Knowledge of workforce Information systems and analysis within HR and organisations.
  • Experience in workforce planning and implementing best practice methodology.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to influence and challenge at a senior level.
  • Strong project and change management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Business awareness of how workforce information/planning impacts organisational choices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft IT packages such as MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

This role is being offered ideally on an initial fixed term basis but there is a permanent role there available for the right candidate.
